Earth Day is a time to celebrate gains we have made and create new visions to accelerate environmental progress. Earth Day is a time to unite around new actions. Earth Day and every day is a time to act to protect our planet. We at healthyjuicecentral.info want to share with our subscribers some easy simple tips to help save our planet.

Easy steps for you to take right away for a Better Environment:

Have a light bulb moment:

Save Energy by switching your Inefficient Incandescent Light Bulbs! Save Money on Electricity Bills Use Less Energy, Reduce Your Carbon Footprint, Help Stop Global Warming!  CFLs use 60% less energy than a regular bulb. This simple switch will save about 300 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

Save money and save energy with the Smart Power Strip
Plugging in your electronics to the Power Strip, and  turning off the power strip, all the items plugged into it will also power down saving you money and saving energy

Reduce Reuse Recycle
According to the EPA, each person in the United States creates about four and a half pounds of trash every day. One way to reduce that number is by reducing, reusing and  recycling anything and everything you can. One four-foot high stack of newspapers is the equivalent of one 40-foot fir tree. That is what we are saving when we recycle our newspapers. Glass is another item that builds up in landfills and is easily reusable, Simran says. Simply take off the lid and rinse out the container before adding it to your recycle pile. Aluminum cans, tin pans and foil should also be recycled.
Think twice before stuffing a package with Styrofoam peanuts. They aren't recyclable. people often assume that everyday items can be recycled, but many will end up in a landfill. Broken glass, lightbulbs, ceramics, Styrofoam, Pyrex, some yogurt containers, aerosol cans, soiled boxes and anything covered in wax paper are not recyclable. You really want to be careful with your consumption. Just thinking about the amount of things in the landfill.

Drinking Water bottles or Juice containers
Use reusable water/juice bottles which can be widely recyclable. This will help reduce the unnecessary environmental waste caused by Plastic PET water bottles or juice containers.

Transport
Walk, ride your bike, use the public transport system and go hybrid if you are in the market for a new car.

Buy organic foods as much as possible
Organic soils capture and store carbon dioxide at much higher levels than soils from conventional farms. In addition to organic, try to choose seasonal and locally grown food. The transportation of food can take its toll on the environment. By choosing locally grown food, you are ensuring that your food doesn't have to be transported thousands of miles to reach you. Your eating habits will vary with what is seasonally available. Plus, organic food is great for you!

Use a cloth shopping bag
When shopping, it saves energy and waste to use a reusable cloth bag instead of accepting a disposable one in each shop. Waste not only discharges CO2 and methane into the atmosphere, it can also pollute the air, groundwater and soil.

Just a degree lower
Turn your thermostat a degree lower in the winter. For each 1 degree you turn down the thermostat in the winter, you'll save up to 5% on your heating costs.

Turn off those lights
Turn off non-essential lights and appliances. The electricity generated by fossil fuels for a single home puts more carbon dioxide into the air than two average cars!

Get a home energy audit done
Call your power company and get an energy audit done to see if your house is well insulated. Reduce heat loss through windows. Close shades and blinds at night to reduce the amount of heat lost through windows. This also applies during the day for warm climates.

Buy Energy Star appliances, products and lights

DON'T leave the refrigerator door open.
Every time you open the door, up to one-third of the cold air can escape.

Use cold water in the washing machine
Hot water won’t get the clothes any cleaner, and it wastes a lot of energy.

DON’T take a long bath – take a short shower instead.
It might take 25 gallons of hot water to fill the bathtub, compared to only seven gallons for a quick shower.
